The Graduation Party

On the 30th of May the festive graduation party where the 11-formers got their certificates of complete universal secondary education took place in Scandinavian gymnasium. The graduating students were in the grip of deep emotions because they were on the verge of the new, adult and independent life. The tune of the parting waltz was played, the warm words of gratitude of students to the teachers were heard, the gratitude of parents for excellent education in Scandinavian gymnasium was expressed right from the hearts.

Georgia for life!

At the beginning of the school year the students and the teachers from the private school «Оpiza» located in the city of Tbilisi visited our gymnasium. From the 4th through the 9th of May the students of our high school visited an extraordinarily beautiful and rich in cultural heritage country of Georgia, met their Georgian friends and now can gladly tell about their impressions.

«The Northern Lights»

On April, 20 the traditional festival of the Scandinavian countries took place in Scandinavian gymnasium which presented the theatrical composition «The New Life of the Old Events: the 18th century». The distinguished guests: the Ambassador of Denmark Mr. Michael Borg-Hansen, the Ambassador of Finland Mr. Krister Mikkelson, the Ambassador of Norway Mr. Olav Berstad, the representatives of the Embassy of Sweden - the Vice-Chairman of the Mission Mr. Morten Enberg, and the adviser on the questions of culture Ms. Tetyana Nekrasova,  the Chairman of the Society «Ukraine-Finland», Professor of the National Technical University «КPІ» Mr. B. Tsiganok , the Adviser of the Chairman of the Board  of the SEB Bank Mr. E. Terpytskyy  came to the festival.

Hans Christian Andersen Birthday

On April, 02 the whole world celebrated the birthday of the well-known tale-teller Hans Christian Andersen.  In honor of this event the students of the 4А form prepared the «Fairy-tale» lesson-quiz. The 6А form organized a presentation in memory of the writer for the students who study Danish. The children showed fragments from the most known works of the tale-teller. Bright costumes, performance of young actors – everything amazed and carried the audience into a fairy-tale world.

Meeting with the Danish guest

On March, 29th, 2011 the guest from Denmark, Ms. Bergitta Volsberg, visited us for the second time. The students were glad to see the native speaker again because the common language was found with her during the lessons last year.

Parade of English traditions

In March, 2011 the students of the 8th forms of the gymnasium under the direction of the teacher of English Olesya R. Rozvaga took part in an extracurricular measure «Parade of English traditions. Five o'clock». The students became acquainted with the history and the origin of tea-drinking, learnt new and interesting details about tea traditions in Europe and Britain. 

The gymnasium is the partner of the Danish festival

From February, 25th through March, 4th, under the auspices of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine, the Danish institute of cinematography, the representative office of the Novo Nordic A/T company and the «Artmedia» producing agency, the «Modern Cinema of Denmark» festival took place in Kyiv where the audience could see the much-talked-of movies of the northern country.

Correspondence with the students of the Danish school

The students of the 5А form successfully continue good traditions of correspondence initiated at Scandinavian gymnasium long time ago. This time the students of the 5th form of the school of the Danish city of Goodberg on the island of Fyun have become our pen-friends. 

Meeting with the Senior Students

 On September, 5 the meeting of the 10-11-formers with the representatives of the DЕС Education Agency and Ms. Anna Hammond, Director of the Department of International Marketing and Business, from the Griffith University (Australia), took place in Scandinavian gymnasium.

Many Happy Returns of the Day of Knowledge!

The first of September is an important and long-awaited day for those who teach, and those who study. It is always a new page in the life of teachers and their students, the educational establishments, the city and the country. As usual, the holiday was a long-expected day for the students of Scandinavian gymnasium who happily celebrated it in the school stadium. 111

Kyiv – Vekshé: partnership in education

International workshop

On the first of December, 2010 within the framework of the International workshop «The use of information technologies in the development of multicultural communicative skills of students while teaching history» organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, M. Dragomanov  National Pedagogical University, the All Ukrainian Union of Teachers of Social Sciences and Civil Education, with EU assistance an open lesson in the history of Ukraine in the 10th form conducted by the teacher-methodologist Ljubov A.Brykova took place.

The Model of the United Nations Organization: Scandy - 2010

On the 25th of November the scientific practical conference of senior students “UN Model: Scandy 2010” was held at Scandinavian Gymnasium. 17 member-countries of the UN which were represented by 7-11 formers discussed the problem of saving biodiversity for sustainable development of humankind.

New project: Ukraine – Georgia

Last week was interesting and rich in events, meetings and new impressions. Scandinavian Gymnasium hosted the guests not from restrained Scandinavia but from sunny Georgia. The students and teachers from the «Opiza» school in the city of Tbilisi visited us.  Such project is unique indeed; in fact this is the first visit of Georgian pupils to Kyiv and to our gymnasium.

Kyiv – Vekhö: ongoing project

From the 26th through the 30th of September, the students of Scandinavian Gymnasium for the third time hospitably received the students from the partner Katedralskola (Vekhö, Sweden). Ukrainian families welcomed the Northern neighbors. Our guests had an opportunity to learn much about Ukrainian culture, customs and traditions. They visited different museums: Pyrogovo, the Museum of Chornobyl, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the Water Information Center, Kiyevo Pecherska Lavra, and other places of interest.

Happy Teachers’ Day!

On this sunny day we celebrate the Teachers’ Day. The teachers teach us to dream and let our imagination run, to look for and find out, to be glad of life and be surprised. Teachers are the standard of patience, boldness, and devotion to the cause. On this festive day the concert devoted to the Day of Teachers took place in Scandinavian Gymnasium. The students prepared wonderful entertainment where they sang merry songs, recited poems, and danced.

Kyiv – Newshoping: Meeting – 2010

From the 13th through the 20th of September, the tenth-formers visited the partner Tessen High School in the Swedish city of Newshoping. It was the second meeting of the students of the same age in the framework of the joint international project backed by the Swedish Institute.

Happy Day of Knowledge!

The national holiday of the beginning of the new school year came to us again. Ceremonial welcome event was held for first-formers. 200 first-formers and graduates gathered in the assembly hall.
