Participation in the Nightswood Tournament
On the 17th of November at the Darnytsya gymnasium #315 the holiday of the adepts at English - the Nightswood Tournament – was held. The Darnytsya Education Administration, the Scottish Nightswood Education Fund and the Center of Foreign Languages rendered their assistance in organizing the event.
The students of13 district specialized educational establishments took part in the competition and among them were the 10- and 11-formers of Scandinavian gymnasium. The team of the 10-formers consisted of Denys Zelenko, Kuzma Maryan, Ruslana Vynyavska, Anastasiya Beryl. Yevgen Sova, Ganna Pyleva and Stanislav Demyanchuk represented the 11-formers. The teachers of English of Scandinavian gymnasium A. Voron and V. Osadcha accompanied the students during both rounds of the tournament.
It’s worthwhile mentioning that the participation in the Nightswood Tournament became absolutely new, impressive experience for the senior students because the tournament was conducted by a native speaker, a representative of the Scottish Education Society – Mr. David Stobbs – in accordance with new unconventional rules. Unfortunately, the teams of Scandinavian gymnasium didn’t win any prizes but deserved praise, scored many points and got certificates.
For our students it was the first experience of participation in such linguistic competitions and we hope that the Nightswood Tournament will become a good annual tradition in the Darnytsya district of our city.
