Celebrating the Anniversary of Independence of Finland
December, 7. On the occasion of the 92nd Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Finland a gala party and a concert were arranged with the assistance of the “Ukraine - Finland“Society, Petro I. Chaikovskyy National Musical Academy of Ukraine, and the students of Scandinavian Gymnasium.
With welcoming speeches the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland in Ukraine, Christer Mikkelson, the Rector of National Musical Academy of Ukraine, V. I. Rozhok, the President of the “Ukraine - Finland“ Society, B. A. Tsiganok, the Headmistress of Scandinavian Gymnasium, Tetyana E. Pushkaryova, addressed the distinguished audience.
The program of the concert foresaw artistic performance by the conservatoire students of selected works of the Finnish composer Ian Sibelius as well as Ukrainian musical compositions.
The pupils of the Choir of Scandinavian Gymnasium for the first time in public sang a Finnish, a Ukrainian song and rune verses from the national Finish epic poem Kalevala. After the concert the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland in Ukraine, Christer Mikkelson, together with his wife, personally thanked a wonderful choral ensemble and its leader Victoria Rozbinska.
