“Northern Lights” The Middle Ages
On April, 15 the blare of the trumpets of the traditional “Northern Lights” festival sounded in Scandinavian Gymnasium again. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden in Ukraine, Stephen Gullgen, the Counselor of the Head of the Mission, Christian Camill, the Press Attaché of the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine, Tetyana Nekrasova, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland in Ukraine, Christer Mikkelson with his wife, the Secretary of the Kingdom of Norway, Buthild Oslaugedotter Norsletten and other distinguished guests visited the gymnasium.
This year the students of the gymnasium have prepared a wonderful theatrical performance "The European Middle Ages giving credit to the Vikings”. The guests together with the students traveled around Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and were able to see national dances and listen to the songs of the Norsemen. The festival has shown once again that international contacts between our countries are important, and the participants of the event got the opportunity to show not only their language abilities but also their knowledge of the history, culture and traditions of the Scandinavian countries.
