Meeting with the Ambassador of Finland
The students of our school are often asked what makes
our gymnasium Scandinavian, and what benefits we have from that other than
learning the languages of Scandinavian countries? We can answer this question.
A huge bonus for our students is the opportunity to communicate and cooperate
with representative offices of Finland, Sweden, Norway and of Denmark in
Ukraine and to visit partner schools in the aforementioned countries. On June
the 7th, our students – Anastasia Pereverten’, Maxim Martsynovsky and Andriy
Berezovsky – met with Yuhoyu Virtanen, the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of
Finland to Ukraine. They had the opportunity not only to talk with a
top-ranking diplomat, but also to practice conversational English. The meeting
was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Independence of Finland, its
history and its achievements in the fields of education, culture, foreign and
domestic policy. In addition, they discussed opportunities for cooperation in
the framework of various projects scheduled by our school for the next academic
year. The students were extremely satisfied with the results of the meeting.
They obtained new knowledge of such an interesting and original country as
Finland, and materials for their further work on scientific papers and projects
during the next school year.
We are grateful for the hospitality and the
opportunity provided by the Embassy of Finland in Kyiv.
