Day of Embroidered Shirt
On May the 19th the Ukrainian community worldwide celebrates the Day of Embroidered Shirt. The holiday was founded by the students of Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University in 2006.
This event is traditional for Scandinavian Gymnasium. Ukrainian ornaments and wreaths decorated our gymnasium. The students of the 10G form prepared the radio newspaper "Embroidery as spiritual wealth, wisdom, and the national guardian of our people.
During the day, the students had the opportunity to get acquainted with works of arts and crafts in the "Treasures of our memory" exhibition. The highlight of the event was a culinary festival of dumplings. Each form presented "Ukrainian goodies" with potatoes and bacon, cheese and sour cream, cherries and honey, seasoning them with witty jokes and songs.
The "Scandi-2016" flash mob was very impressive. The students created a pattern in yellow and blue colors. The embroidered shirt for the Ukrainian people is not only clothing, but the symbol of belonging to the family, to the nation.
Therefore, let’s wear it for good luck and happiness because it is our space and Ukrainian talisman.
