Traditional spring in Poland
During the spring holidays the students of Scandinavian Gymnasium with their parents visited the partner Marie Sklodowska-Curie Lyceum#1 in Sopot. Among the participants of the trip there were our future graduates who intend to enroll in the University of Sopot (Sopocka Szkoła Wyższa), which under the agreement with Scandinavian Gymnasium takes our students to study on preferential terms.
Our partners provided the opportunity to visit historical and cultural sites in Poland: the historical and cultural Kashuba center, the European Centre of Solidarity and Freedom in Gdansk, Gdynia Aquarium, Oliwa Park and the Cathedral of the XII century on the border of Gdansk and Sopot where the students listened to a concert of organ music.
Also, the students from Kiev studied the system of secondary education in Poland, visited the Lyceum, the Museum of the Second World War and spoke with the high school students. Our students personally met Maria Starostka, the director of the Lyceum, and the teachers. At the University of Sopocka Szkoła Wyższa all participants took part in the meeting with Teresa Martynyuk, the Rector, the Chancellor and Provost of the University and like real students attended the lecture of the Polish language. It was very pleasant to meet with our former students now SSW university students and communicate with them.
It was an interesting and useful trip; a lot is yet to come. Our students wanted to stay a little longer to see and learn more. But our graduates are lucky, this year they will go to Sopot on a training course at SSW and will be able to see more.
