Kyiv open linguistics contest of high-school students
On October the 22nd Scandinavian Gymnasium hosted the school stage of Kyiv open linguistics contest of high-school students. 62 high-school students participated in it. The contest is an opportunity to find generalities in different even unknown languages with the help of logic and mathematical functions, and to solve the proposed problems. The participants worked with the Igbo language, Haida, Chukchi, Hungarian, Latvian and Romanian. Through analytical skills and linguistic intuition the students were able to solve most of the problems and even enjoy the success and new discoveries. "To know many languages means to have a lot of keys to one lock," - said Voltaire, the French philosopher, writer, and educator. Therefore, dear students, open new horizons for your linguistic abilities!
