The Lesson of Courage
On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Kiev from Nazi occupation on the 5th of November the school lessons of courage were held at Scandinavian Gymnasium. The students recalled the days when the defenders of our country liberated the capital of Ukraine at the cost of their lives. In the first lesson the students with tears in their eyes enthusiastically listened to the memories of those tragic and yet heroic days. Some students brought pictures of their relatives who survived the horrors of the war. The students not only listened to their teachers and classmates but also shared their knowledge on the defense of Kyiv in 1941, the occupation regime, the underground activity, the battle for Lyutizh and Bukryn springboards.
It is impossible to overestimate the importance of such events. Though 70 years have passed and the participants of those events are gone but the memory of their feat of arms is alive in our hearts.
