New project: Estonia – Ukraine
In September, 2012 a friendly team of teachers and students of Scandinavian Gymnasium went on a partner visit to Tallinn Mustiyeiska Gymnasium.
During the trip our students socialized with their Estonian peers and attended the lessons of history, mathematics, English and music. Mustiyeiska Gymnasium is a school where a Ukrainian class has been recently opened.
During the visit a meeting of our students with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Estonia Mr. Krizhanivskiy and the Chairman of the Association of Ukrainian organizations Vladimir Palamar was organized. Little Estonia is a country of great contrasts: on the one hand, the centuries-old traditions are respected and the untouched corners of nature are taken care of, on the other hand, the Estonians are at the forefront of technological development.
Being well-prepared for our visit, the hosts tried to show the best of Estonia: the Rocca-al-Mare open-air museum, the Kadriorg Park, the Historical Museum and the Museum of Estonia. Our students visited the modern television tower and the ancient Keik in de Kok tower as well as the Water Park, the Old Castle, the Dominican monastery.
Our students were impressed by the ferry ride to the city of Helsinki (Finland). The opportunity to visit the Itakeskuksen Lukio partner school and meeting its students motivated our high school students to further study the languages because more than ten languages are studied in that institution.
Scandinavian Gymnasium invited the partners from Tallinn to visit Kyiv and our school in the spring of 2013.
The next journey of our students is to the international Illig-in-Pankov school in Berlin. All interested students are invited!
