Journey into history
Not so long ago, 8E- and 6G-form students visited Pereyaslav-Khmelnitskyy, a magical city with long and exciting history. Probably, the most exciting was the Museum of Architecture and Everyday Life of the people of Middle Dnipro region, an open-air museum, located in the vicinity of Pereyaslav.
It is impossible to see everything in one day because it’s actually several museums. Folk customs and rituals, the architecture and the culture of our people are presented here, in a word, the life of the Ukrainians in this rich region. It’s interesting to freely enter the houses, to see the household items, clothes of potters and healers who lived there.
The church of St. John the Divine, one of the oldest in Ukraine, which goes back to Cossack times, is situated in the museum's territory. When you come into the church you feel the special atmosphere of the holy place which witnessed many historic events. Taras Shevchenko visited it in his time.
We hope that during the trip we just started to learn the wonderful things and we are going to see more in the new school year, so we are looking forward to new experiences.
