Independence Day of Finland
On occasion of the anniversary of the Independence Day of Finland on December the 18th the students and the teachers of Scandinavian gymnasium prepared a gala evening and invited Mrs. Arya Makkonen, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Finland in Ukraine. Professor B. Tsyganok, the President of the "Ukraine - Finland" society, K. Tishchenko, Professor of Taras Shevchenko National University, and the students of the National Music Academy of Ukraine visited the gymnasium.
Mrs. Arya Makkonen, the Ambassador of Finland, in her speech thanked the "Ukraine - Finland " society, the administration of the gymnasium for facilitating such activities and presented books for the school library. Professor K. Tishchenko, a well-known linguist, in his speech told about Finnish loanwords in the Ukrainian language and presented his book "Caliphate and Siever: toponymic mark in Ukraine.

T.E. Pushkareva, the Headmistress of Scandinavian Gymnasium, spoke about the partnership relations with Finnish schools and about participation of our students in forums and conferences on the issues of education. The students studying Finnish took part in the celebrations. The "Merry Notes" choir (supervised by V.Rozbinska), the "Charm" dance theater (supervised by O.Valieva), the students of the National Music Academy of Ukraine who prepared musical compositions and songs including Finnish took part in the concert.
