Youth Scientific Conference Devoted to the International Day of Peace
On September 19-20, 2013 the team of Scandinavian Gymnasium comprising students of 11V form (Alexander Krayev, Kateryna Halmirzayeva, Maxim Hushchenko), students of 10B form (Roman Shabalkov, Marina Skvortsova, Oleg Fedornyak), and Yelyzaveta Fedorovska, a student of 8A form together with Nataliya V. Melnyk, the Deputy Director of the gymnasium and Y. V. Gorbunova, the teacher of IT, visited school # 12 in the city of Konotop and attended the two-day conference entitled " X + Y = РЕАСЕ " dedicated to the International Day of Peace.
For two days the participants interacted with Saim Serinch, the representative of Turkey (Bilgic Rehabilitation center physical therapist), Johanna Puhakka, an assistant on Public Relations of United Nations Office in Ukraine as well as Yukiye Mokuo, the UNICEF Representative in Ukraine. To encourage the participants the organizers provided a number of interesting games with the view of developing communication capabilities and memory.
On the first day our team had an opportunity to represent peacekeeping corps. On the second day Puhakka Johan visited the students and answered their questions about the work of UNICEF. Then all the participants were divided into two teams tasked with the project entitled "The Day of Peace Celebration ". Next, each team presented its project. In the evening the students watched the movies on gender inequality. Every student got a lot of experience, gained useful knowledge and a lot of positive emotions. This conference gave the students an opportunity to find new good friends and have fun. We look forward to the next meeting!
